Yep. One of my students relieved himself on the bathroom floor last week. He was served with a six day suspension. Although my class has been way better behaved (knock on wood) these last two days without his presence and that of another student who was suspended for 10 days, I have mixed feelings about this punishment. When I shared this experience with others they asked me why, and when I too asked the 10 year old, he just shrugged his shoulders. Was it for attention? Is there something more than just wanting to be the class clown? I think a better punishment would have been making him clean it up and not the poor custodian.
